I was skeptical about the self-healing claim, but after several weeks of heavy use, the surface still feels smooth with no permanent grooves forming. The extra size has been a lifesaver for handling larger quilting projects without having to reposition the fabric constantly.

It's noticeably bigger than my old mat, which is a relief for laying out multiple pattern pieces at once. Already made a few deep cuts and I can't even see where they were.

My old mat had so many cuts I could feel every blade slip, but this one really does close up on its own; even after a week of heavy use, the surface stays perfectly smooth. The extra room is a game-changer too, no more repositioning my fabric mid-cut on larger quilting projects.
