This black leather has a nice, even finish and feels durable without being stiff. The 4-5 oz weight makes it perfect for a sturdy belt I just finished. Exactly what I needed for this project.

I was surprised by how substantial this 4-5 oz. leather feels when I lifted it—the weight is just right for a sturdy side. The black finish is deep and even, and the texture from the chrome tanning stays soft without being flimsy.

The chrome tanning gives it a smooth, almost waxy feel right out of the bag, and the 4 to 5 oz thickness is perfect for carving without being flimsy. I’ve already cut out a couple of small pouches and the edges burnish up cleanly. Definitely grabbing another hide for my next project.
