Took me a minute to figure out how to use it, but once I laced it onto a notebook cover, the faux leather look fooled my sister into thinking it was real. The texture has that subtle grain you'd expect from genuine hide, and it holds its shape without fraying at the edges.

Finally got around to trying this on a small purse I was making and the faux leather holds its shape beautifully. The texture is smooth but not plasticky, and it cut cleanly without fraying. Really pleased with how the lacing turned out.
