The half-inch thickness gives it real heft, so it stays put while I'm hammering an awl through leather. The impact-absorbing surface does exactly what it says, and my bench is happier for it.

The 6x6 inch surface is just the right size for my small stamping projects, and I love how stable it stays on my bench even during heavy punching. It's firm enough to get clean cuts without being too hard on my tools.

The thickness on this one is spot on—at nearly half an inch it takes a serious hammer blow from my punches without any bounce-back to the leather. I’ve got the 6x6 version and it’s the perfect little station for strap ends and small pieces.
