Category: Leather

Bleached rawhide split single bends, with a textured surface. Rawhide has been used for centuries to make saddle trees, drumheads, shields, lamp shades, moccasin soles and many other projects. It also makes great thongs and laces. Rawhide is very rigid because it has not been tanned, only de-haired and cured. When soaked in water it becomes pliable, allowing it to be molded or shaped. During the drying process, rawhide shrinks, stiffens and generally retains whatever shape it was given. These bends may contain natural characteristics like visible marks, brands, or holes.

Leo ★★★★★

The textured surface made this rawhide bend perfect for the drumhead I was repairing, and it soaked up the water nicely for shaping. It's a solid natural material that feels authentic to work with. My only small surprise was that it's a bit lighter in color than I expected.

Sofia ★★★★★

Bought this for a leatherworking project and the single bend cut down on waste nicely. Texture is smooth but firm, holds its shape when you need it to. Takes some elbow grease to get it to curve, but that's rawhide for you.

Nicholas R. ★★★★★

The textured surface on this bleached rawhide split gives it a nice grip for my drumhead project, and it's surprisingly easy to cut precisely. Feels like a solid, old-school material that's ready for tough work without any fuss.
